Georgia Jogger Allegedly Targeted by Driver Three Times at Cobb County Apartment Complex

News EditorBy News EditorAugust 10, 2026 U.S. News 5 Mins Read

A Georgia woman exercising at a Cobb County apartment complex was allegedly forced to hide behind a dumpster after a stranger drove toward her three times. The incident reportedly began after the woman and Jesse Allen Davis, 21, exchanged a brief greeting on July 19. Davis faces felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor hit-and-run charges, while the alleged motive remains unclear.

Authorities say the woman escaped injury by running toward her residence and taking cover as Davis allegedly pursued her in a 2004 Nissan Sentra. The case includes allegations that another vehicle was struck and that Davis later crashed into a pole.

A routine greeting allegedly preceded the confrontation

The woman was walking and exercising at the Sedgefield Apartments in Cobb County, Georgia, on the morning of July 19. According to a criminal warrant, she did not know Davis, who was also at the complex. The two reportedly exchanged what authorities described as a brief, polite greeting before the alleged confrontation began.

The warrant does not identify any disagreement or other interaction that would explain what happened next. Police have not publicly established a motive, and the allegations remain subject to the criminal court process.

The driver allegedly made three attempts to strike the woman

Authorities allege that Davis entered a parked 2004 Nissan Sentra, started the vehicle and drove directly toward the woman at a high rate of speed. A second driver reportedly moved into Davis’s path, forcing him to stop before he could allegedly hit her.

The woman then ran toward her residence and continued toward the area of Commons Lane. The warrant alleges that Davis followed her and again drove toward her. She reportedly ran onto a sidewalk and hid behind a dumpster to avoid the vehicle.

While she was concealed, Davis allegedly shouted profanities, maneuvered the car and attempted to strike her a third time before leaving the area. She called 911 while taking cover, according to the reported account.

“He got into a vehicle, and for whatever reason he attempted to strike her with the vehicle while she was in the parking lot,” Cobb County Police Sgt. Eric Smith said.

The alleged pursuit unfolded at a Cobb County complex

The reported events took place within and around the apartment complex, including the parking lot, the route toward the woman’s residence and Commons Lane. The setting required the woman to move on foot while trying to avoid the allegedly approaching vehicle.

Smith said the driver attempted to strike the woman two additional times after the first alleged attempt. The sequence described in the warrant is the basis for the aggravated assault allegation, while investigators also examined what happened after the vehicle left the immediate area.

A collision and witness accounts added to the case

A separate criminal warrant alleges that a gray Nissan Sentra collided with a gray Ford Fusion during the incident and that the driver did not immediately stop or return to the scene. A local television report also said Davis eventually crashed into a pole.

Neighbor Lloydethan White said he witnessed part of the chaos and believed Davis nearly struck his vehicle as well as the woman.

“When I had seen him, he almost hit my car and her,” White said.

White said he checked on the woman but did not initially understand what she had allegedly experienced. He described the situation as troubling because she had been trying to carry out a normal workout.

Davis was arrested as the motive remained unknown

Jesse Allen Davis was arrested and booked into the Cobb County Jail on felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor hit-and-run charges. Jail records listed a total bond amount of $5,720.

The charges are allegations, and the available account does not indicate whether Davis and the woman had any interaction beyond their initial greeting. Police have not announced a motive or described any additional circumstances that may have led to the alleged pursuit.
