Wyoming Mother Kandice Gunter Missing After Failing to Pick Up Children

News EditorBy News EditorNovember 1, 2026 U.S. News 4 Mins Read

A Wyoming mother of two has been reported missing after she failed to pick up her children from an after-school program. Kandice Gunter, 30, was last seen in person on the morning of Oct. 29, 2026, in Natrona County, according to police. Her sister reported her missing after the missed pickup, which family members described as unusual. Investigators are asking the public for information about Gunter and the gray pickup truck she was driving.

Gunter had recently moved from Nevada to Casper to be closer to her children, ages 9 and 6. Police said her cellphone was last located around 12:30 p.m. Mountain Time on Oct. 30 near Highway 387 and the Natrona County line.

Police identify the missing woman

Kandice Gunter was reported missing to the Casper Police Department on the evening of Oct. 29 after she was last seen in Natrona County that morning. Authorities said she is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 185 pounds. She has black hair, blue eyes and a butterfly tattoo on her neck.

Police said Gunter was last known to be traveling in a gray 2016 GMC Canyon pickup carrying a Wyoming temporary registration. No additional details about the circumstances of her disappearance were provided.

Missed child pickup raises alarm

Gunter’s sister, Kayla Gunter, told local media that she became concerned after Kandice did not collect her children, who are 9 and 6, from the Boys & Girls Club. Kayla said the failure to appear was out of character for her sister and prompted her to contact police.

“It’s totally out of character for her not to show up to get her kids.”

The missed pickup became the immediate reason for the family’s alarm, while police continued to establish Gunter’s movements and locate her vehicle.

Timeline traces calls and cellphone activity

The sisters last spoke by phone at 10:41 a.m. local time on Wednesday, according to the account provided by Kayla. She said the conversation did not suggest that anything was wrong, and Gunter stopped answering calls afterward. The family was also told that Gunter’s phone appeared near Gillette around noon Wednesday.

Police later said the phone was last located around 12:30 p.m. Mountain Time on Friday, Oct. 30, along Highway 387 near the Natrona County line. Authorities have not said whether the cellphone location established Gunter’s whereabouts or the location of the pickup.

Family describes recent move and routine

Gunter reportedly moved from Nevada to Casper about a month before her disappearance so she could be closer to her children. She had been staying with their father and helping care for the children. Kayla said the move appeared to be going well and that her sister had not indicated she intended to leave or cut off contact.

The sisters typically spoke by phone at least three times a day. Family members and friends have since searched for information across the region, which includes broad rural areas around Casper and Highway 387.

Police ask public for information

The Casper Police Department is asking anyone who has seen Gunter, her gray 2016 GMC Canyon or has information about her whereabouts to call 307-235-8278. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers of Central Wyoming at 307-577-8477 or through its website.

Investigators have not announced a confirmed explanation for Gunter’s disappearance. People with information are encouraged to contact authorities rather than conduct searches that could interfere with the investigation.
