Wes Henderson has been removed as chief executive of TKC Distilling after relatives accused him of using hidden cameras to record family members, guests and minors without their knowledge. The allegations were made in a lawsuit filed in Kentucky and later sealed, according to reports. Relatives said they found about 15 concealed devices at a vacation home in Florida, while additional recordings allegedly came from a Kentucky castle resort. Authorities are examining the recordings, but the precise location of the evidence and the status of any investigation remain unclear.

CEO dismissal follows allegations

TKC Distilling, the parent company of The Kentucky Castle and True Story Whiskey, terminated Wes Henderson as CEO on October 3. The board acted after relatives filed a lawsuit in Oldham County, Kentucky, in June alleging that Henderson placed recording devices at properties connected to him. The company said it was not a party to the lawsuit and characterized the termination as an immediate response to the allegations.

Henderson’s attorney has denied the claims. The attorney said Henderson expected the complaint to be voluntarily dismissed and would vigorously defend himself if the plaintiffs continued with the case. The allegations have not been established in court.

Relatives describe concealed devices

The relatives said they discovered the devices during a stay at Henderson’s vacation home near Melbourne, Florida, in June 2025. They reportedly removed about 15 cameras, including equipment disguised as fire alarms and devices concealed in a fan, clock, speaker, charging blocks and outlet extenders.

The complaint also described a camera allegedly hidden inside a bathroom air vent. Relatives said they found footage showing Henderson positioning a camera in front of a bed. After reviewing some of the material, they turned the evidence over to authorities. Henderson’s wife later gave relatives permission to search the couple’s home in Oldham County, where they alleged that more cameras had been installed.

Complaint alleges recordings of guests and minors

The lawsuit alleges that visitors were recorded while changing clothes, using bathrooms and engaging in sexual activity, without their knowledge or consent. It also alleges that some recordings showed Henderson having sex with women other than his wife. The complaint further states that minors were recorded while nude.

The plaintiffs identified about 40 people who allegedly appeared in the recordings. The complaint reportedly included an account involving a person experiencing homelessness who appeared to carry a medical device into a restroom. The plaintiffs are seeking damages for pain and suffering and medical expenses, and have requested a jury trial.

Company names successor and plans review

TKC Distilling said Kyle Henderson, Wes Henderson’s son, would take over as CEO of The Kentucky Castle and True Story Whiskey. The company said its board intends to conduct a full and independent investigation into the allegations and pledged to address the matter responsibly.

The lawsuit also alleged that memory cards contained recordings made at The Kentucky Castle in Versailles, Kentucky, a property owned by Henderson. The company has said it is not a defendant in the family members’ lawsuit, while the allegations involving the resort remain part of the reported dispute.

Investigative details remain unresolved

The Department of Homeland Security is examining the recordings, according to reports. The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in Florida and the Oldham County Police Department in Kentucky had not confirmed whether they had taken possession of the evidence. Rob Young, chief of the Versailles Police Department, said his department was not involved and had no information about the matter.

The exact locations of all devices and recordings remain unclear. Henderson, who previously worked as a firefighter, also recently took a leave of absence from his position as deputy coroner in Oldham County, according to the reports. Separately, TKC Distilling and related businesses have faced lawsuits over allegedly unpaid architectural and consulting bills.
